Excellent work, Victoria Cassell at WIBW 13, thank you so much for caring and taking your professional time and resources to address critical issues in our community!
Bulldozing homeless communities are “Bull Connor techniques” used against those simply trying to exercise their civil rights.
Just as Bull Connor’s sicked dogs and fire hoses on those who were exercising their civil rights in the 60s – simply the right to vote, the right to be treated equal under the law; similarly, with the homeless, they are simply exercising their constitutional rights – their Civil Rights to hold private property without unreasonable search and seizure – and our city manager came in, not with dogs and fire hoses, but with bulldozers and dump trucks and destroy a community of individuals who were simply trying to hold on to whatever small private property they had without unreasonable search and seizure!
Shame Shame Shame on the city manager for doing this and the City council for allowing it to go down!
The city manager now is Ex-Police Chief Bill Cochran who while a cop had a bad reputation for hating the homeless and treating them badly. Now as city manager he is swinging his pen like a billy club and ordering the bulldozers to attack the homeless camp. Some other city council persons are furious that they where left out of the loop on Cochrans decision, which could now cost the city millions if this gets dragged to the supreme court.
