Topeka Police arrest parole violator & multiple theft suspect
TOPEKA, Kan. – On Monday, April 10, 2023, officers from the Topeka Police Department (TPD) were
investigating a series of past retail thefts that were reported over the weekend. These thefts occurred in
the 2900 block of SW Wanamaker Rd., the 5900 block of SW Huntoon Ave., and the 2600 block of SE
California Ave.
The suspect was identified, with assistance from the State of Kansas Parole Office, as Dustin J. Spooner,
38, of Topeka. Around 7:50 p.m. on Monday, TPD officers located Spooner near SE 26th St. and SE
California Ave., where they arrested and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of
Corrections on the following charges:
Felony Theft x 4
Parole Violation Warrant
Spooner has 12 prior felony convictions in the state of Kansas, which include four prior theft convictions.
