
Topeka Police respond to aggravated burglary & suicide attempt
TOPEKA, Kan. – On April 11, 2023 shortly after 12:30 a.m., officers from the Topeka Police Department (TPD) responded to the 1400 block of SW 13th St. in reference to an unwanted subject in an apartment.
As officers were responding, they learned that a gunshot had been heard from inside that apartment. Upon their arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. All other occupants of the apartment were uninjured. The injured man was transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response (AMR) in life-threatening, but stable condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates this incident was a suicide attempt. Police are not seeking any additional parties, and there is no known threat to the general public. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
