Gunshots near SE 28th and SE Maryland
TOPEKA, Kan. – On Monday, May 29th at approximately 7:20 a.m., TPD officers responded to the area of SE 28th and SE Maryland Ave on reports of gunshots in the area. When officers arrived, they located numerous shell casings in the street, and one residence in the 2700 block of SE Maryland was struck by a single bullet. No injuries to any people were reported. The Crime Scene Investigation Unit was called in to assist with evidence collection.

The Topeka Police Department tells 13 NEWS that officers are on the scene and investigating shots fired in the area of SE 28th and Maryland Ave.
Officials noted they received a call around 7:20 a.m. with reports of gunshots and shell casings in the street. When they arrived, they found various casings and that at least one home in the 2700 block of Maryland had been hit by a single bullet.
The Crime Scene Investigation Bureau has been called into help collect evidence.
