Topeka Police investigating homicide
TOPEKA, Kan. – On April 11, 2024, just after 4:30 p.m., officers from the Topeka Police Department (TPD)
responded to a reported shooting Reese’s Fine Foods, located at 3167 SE 10th St.
Upon arrival, officers found an individual suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, who was
later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident that
occurred in the parking lot and no other injuries have been reported.
The identity of the deceased will be released once next of kin notifications have been made. At this time
the investigation is ongoing.
This is the third homicide investigation of 2024.

The deceased has been identified as Reginald Privett, 39, of Topeka. The investigation is still ongoing.

The TPD’s watch commander confirms police are on scene investigating a shooting at Reser’s in east Topeka. One person is confirmed dead following the shooting.

City spokeswoman Rosie Nichols says officers were called just after 4:30 p.m. on April 11 to 3167 SE 10th Street in Topeka at Reser’s Fine Foods. Police found a person suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound at the scene who was later pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the shooting is an isolated incident that occurred in the parking lot with no other injuries reported. The identity of the victim will not be released until family can be notified.
