Topeka Police Doing That Thing They Are Paid To Do.

Topeka Police investigating homicide
TOPEKA, Kan. – On April 11, 2024, just after 4:30 p.m., officers from the Topeka Police Department (TPD)
responded to a reported shooting Reese’s Fine Foods, located at 3167 SE 10th St.
Upon arrival, officers found an individual suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, who was
later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident that
occurred in the parking lot and no other injuries have been reported.
The identity of the deceased will be released once next of kin notifications have been made. At this time
the investigation is ongoing.
This is the third homicide investigation of 2024.
UPDATE
The deceased has been identified as Reginald Privette, 39, of Topeka. The investigation is still ongoing.
Attempt to Locate
TPD is attempting to locate Eddie Holmes, 65, of Topeka, in reference to this investigation. Investigators
believe Eddie Homes is a person of interest in the homicide that occurred on April 11.

At around 11:00 a.m. Officers with the Topeka Police Department responded to the area of 23rd and SEndiana Ave. on the report of Eddie Holmes being in the area.
Upon arrival Officers confirmed that it was Eddie Holmes and he was taken into custody without
incident. He was then transported to the Law Enforcement Center to speak with Detectives.
As a result of the investigation, Eddie Holmes was transported to the Shawnee County Department of
Corrections where he was booked in for the following charges:

  • Murder in the 2nd Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon by a Felon
    The Topeka Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance.
    All persons charged with a criminal offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
