This live music calendar includes shows scheduled across Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City.
Here it is, boring and pointless. Just like Topeka.
live music calendar, heres what you get.
Did I miss some bands and their gigs? Probably. But if the bands and venues don’t care enough to do even the most basic promotional work for their gigs, why should I give a shit?
I am no longer going to chase down your stupid fucking gig. If the effort a band or promoter puts into letting people know about a show reflects the energy and interest of the band’s performance, then there is absolutely no reason for an audience to get off the couch and go see it.
Seriously, I am so DONE with this bullshit—especially in Topeka. But I am seeing the same kind of laziness and lack of interest in Lawrence and KC as well.
I will sit back and enjoy the tears as venues, bands, and promoters start wailing and crying about “people not supporting us.” Those exact venues—the ones with the most to lose or gain—can’t be bothered to promote a goddamned thing. You deserve to go bankrupt. I just wish you wouldn’t take the scene with you.
Oh, wait—you can’t take the scene with you. It has already gone somewhere else.
I am aware of a few people who are cribbing off of our www.neks.show live music calendar and using it in their own products. That’s fine. Mission accomplished as far as I am concerned. I just wish they would act like decent people and give some credit where credit is due. But THATS a fucking lost tradition in Topeka.
If you want a simple, basic calendar of live music events, go to www.neks.show. It is a constantly refreshed, regularly updated live music calendar. But it works the same basic way: It is not psychic. It only knows about your gig if YOU post your gig somewhere online.
So, the same thing applies: We will be glad to read your bitchy, tearful, accusatory, bitter rant about how no one supports YOUR scene when you did fuck-all to support your OWN scene in the simplest and most basic way: List your shows and make those listings available.
Now, here is $2,500 worth of marketing and advertising education, absolutely free:
A single flyer—no matter how great or stupid, whether AI-generated or painted by Michelangelo—posted on Instagram is worth exactly JACK SHIT.
Your three friends, who are already sick of your band, are going to see it and probably forget about it 30 seconds later. If your idea of an advertising campaign is one flyer on Instagram, then you deserve what you get: Nothing.
Got it? Now do better.
Now here’s how to do better: Send us your gig info, dystopeka@gmail.com send your band or venue links, your calendars URL, and ake sure its public (Or you are wasting your time anyway) also send your info to submitshow@neks.show THATS how to ensure that your gig gets into our Live Music Calendar.
Seriously, just make a little effort. Im not cutting a deal here when I say “Just make a little effort and we will help promote your gig”, theres no “deal”, thats just how it works.

Gimme Some Money.
I don’t sell advertising on this website. I make little person trades with local businesses that I like and respect.
This calendar and many of the articles on here are a labor of love. I do it for free hoping that it will rekindle the sparks of a music scene.
But it gets very frustrating when I see the bands artists and venues not even bothering to promote their own shows. But i DO enjoy the part where they cry about no one showing up after their gig, with the hopes that maybe this time they will learn the lesson.
In the mean time, these websites do incur a certain expense, that I pay for out of my own pocket.
So would it really hurt you to throw me a few bones? Below are my donation routs.
That’s this week’s Northeast Kansas Weekend Concert Roundup – see you out there.
Event feed sourced from NEKS.show. Come for the guitars. Stay for the weird.
