Northeast Kansas Weekend Concerts — Topeka, Lawrence, Kansas City, Ozawkie & Burlingame — 54 shows this week

Northeast Kansas Weekend Concerts is back for another week — welcome to your Dystopeka.com LIVE Music guide to Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City.

The spine and bloodline of this calendar is supplied by NEKS.show — a handy, simple, quick, and easy concert calendar. Go bookmark it.

Topeka shows get a big letter T in front of them. Got a show you want on here? Email the link to submitshow@neks.show.

We are still stinging from the closure of several beloved music venues, but when one door closes, another one opens up. Artismo Bistro has morphed into a mobile roving gang of promoter/producers who will be using different local spaces and places to produce events. The 6th and Polk guys are hinting at different options and a return to Black Chamber, and being wisely cagey about it. For more info on all of this check out the Politics Verses The Music Scene articles on Dystopeka.com.

Northeast Kansas Weekend Concerts pick: Hatebreed Summer Slaughter Tour 2026 Part 2 flyer, Warehouse on Broadway, Kansas City, September 3
Secret Shopper’s Pick — Thursday

Hatebreed // Terror // Incantation // Gates to Hell // Torture // Creeping Death

Heavy-music fans will have one more chance to close out the summer with a high-energy concert when Hatebreed brings the Summer Slaughter tour to Warehouse on Broadway in Kansas City. The veteran Connecticut hardcore and metalcore band, previously featured on the Warped Tour and Ozzfest, is touring in support of its new album, Fatal Paradox . Known for forceful live performances and famously intense mosh pits, Hatebreed headlines a six-band lineup that spans hardcore, crossover thrash and multiple styles of death metal.

Terror, the crossover band from L.A., plays a fantastic show that is welcoming to everyone except fascists and haters. Incantation, the legendary death metal band, is a personal favorite. I see them every chance I get because they are one of the best death metal acts performing today. There’s a good chance that you could get a picture with Incantation’s singer/guitarist, John McEntee. Gates to Hell and Creeping Death play a new style of death metal that even attracts hardcore fans. Torture is hard to describe, but they have a lot of slam and brutal death metal influences.

With six bands scheduled to perform, doors will open at 4 p.m., and the first act will take the stage at 4:45 p.m. Given the strength of the lineup and Hatebreed’s following, remaining tickets are expected to sell quickly.

Lawrence Psych Fest

Five bands, one night, all in on the fuzz and reverb: Levitation Room, Corners of the Sky, Pale Tongue, Teri Quinn & The Coyotes, and Megafauna. If you want a night that leans heavier into texture and haze than your standard bar-band Saturday, this is the one to build the evening around.

All ages, doors at 5, first band at 6. Advance tickets are the move at $15 before day-of jumps to $20.

About This Northeast Kansas Weekend Concerts Roundup

This is our regular Northeast Kansas Weekend Concerts roundup, combined from the NEKS.show pull, individual venue calendars, submitted show flyers, and reader tips. Check back next week for another Northeast Kansas Weekend Concerts roundup.

Gimme Some Money.

I don’t sell advertising on this website. I make little person trades with local businesses that I like and respect.

This calendar and many of the articles on here are a labor of love. I do it for free hoping that it will rekindle the sparks of a music scene.

But it gets very frustrating when I see the bands, artists, and venues not even bothering to promote their own shows. But I DO enjoy the part where they cry about no one showing up after their gig, with the hopes that maybe this time they will learn the lesson.

In the mean time, these websites do incur a certain expense, that I pay for out of my own pocket.

So would it really hurt you to throw me a few bones? Below are my donation routes.

🎸 Keep The Roundup Running 🎸

Every week I dig through Facebook events, venue pages, and the NEKS.show feed by hand to build this calendar, because somebody in Northeast Kansas has to know what’s actually happening on a Friday night besides doomscrolling. No algorithm, no press release, just a guy tracking down show times so you don’t have to.

Your support keeps the roundup free for every band and every fan, funds the flyers and the write-ups, keeps the lights on at the Dystopeka compound, feeds Larry & Chewy, and props up the increasingly haunted van that gets me to half these shows in the first place. Honestly, it’s a lot more fun for me when you chip in – I get to keep doing this instead of getting a real job.

⚠ WARNING: Excessive support may result in more weekend roundups, more flyers like the ones above, deeper dives into bands nobody’s covering, and a noticeable decrease in Bob’s willingness to shut up about local music.

That’s this week’s Northeast Kansas Weekend Concert Roundup – see you out there.
