Soul Fire Sabbath Festival — August 28–30, 2026
There’s a reason this year’s Soul Fire Sabbath Festival at Truckhenge Farm is calling itself a Sabbath. The sky agreed to open the show before the bands even plug in.
Late Thursday night into the very early hours of Friday morning, the Moon slides almost entirely into Earth’s shadow — a deep partial lunar eclipse that will swallow roughly 96% of the Moon’s face, deep enough that it’ll look for all purposes like a total eclipse to anyone standing outside looking up. Greatest eclipse hits around 11:12 PM Thursday night Central time, with the shadow not fully clearing until just before 1 AM Friday. It’s the darkest, deepest eclipse the sky will offer up until 2028 — a full lunar spectacle, glowing dull copper-red at its peak, timed like it knew the festival gates were about to open.
Then the same Moon that just spent hours in the Earth’s shadow turns around and goes full for the weekend — the traditional August full moon, sometimes called the Sturgeon Moon, rising right over the farm as three full days of music, art, fire, and community get underway.
Gates open at noon Friday, August 28th, at Truckhenge Farm — 4124 NE Brier Rd, Topeka, KS — and the weekend runs straight through Sunday, August 30th.
A Memorial as Much as a Festival
This year, the gathering carries an extra weight. The Soul Fire Sabbath Memorial is being held in tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and to everyone who loved him — and loved each other — through the kind of live rock and roll that gave birth to metal, rebellion, big love, and togetherness. It’s a fitting frame for a farm that’s always been about exactly that: strangers becoming family around a fire, a stage, and a shared unwillingness to take any of it too seriously while somehow meaning every bit of it.
What’s Happening at Soul Fire Sabbath Festival
Three full days of:
- Live music across rock, metal, hip-hop, EDM, and acoustic sets
- Drum circles running through the night
- Camping right on the property for the full weekend
- Swimming, fishing, and kayaking on the beach and water
- Star gazing — and this year, you get a front-row eclipse before the weekend even starts
- Art and crafts scattered across the grounds
- Food, fire, and the kind of chaos only an outsider-art farm in Topeka can host
If you’re already tracking what else is going on around the metro this month, it’s also listed on this week’s Northeast Kansas weekend concerts calendar.

Gates open at noon Friday. Bring a tent, bring your fishing pole, and if you’re the type to stay up watching the sky, bring a blanket — because Thursday night’s eclipse is going to be putting on a better warm-up act than most festivals manage to book.
