The Leak That Torched the Kansas Young Republicans
On October 14, 2025, Politico published a damning exposé of a Telegram group chat titled “RESTOREYR WAR ROOM”, involving Young Republican leaders from Kansas, New York, Arizona, and Vermont. The leak contained 2,900 pages of messages spanning seven months, filled with:
- Praise for Adolf Hitler (“I love Hitler”)
- Racist slurs including the n-word
- Jokes about rape, slavery, and gas chambers
- References to white supremacy and Jeffrey Epstein file suppression
The Kansas participants? William Hendrix, vice chair of Kansas Young Republicans, and Alex Dwyer, chair. Hendrix, who worked as a communications specialist for the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, under KKKris KKKobach, was fired on October 9 after the leak revealed his repeated use of slurs and grotesque jokes. Kansas GOP’s Swift Disavowal of Young Racist Republicans
The Kansas Republican Party responded by declaring the Kansas Young Republicans chapter “inactive”. Chair Mike Kuckelman issued a statement condemning the messages, though critics noted the party’s long-standing tolerance for coded bigotry.

Campus Conservatism’s Rotten Pipeline
While direct links to Turning Point USA haven’t been confirmed in the chat, both Hendrix and Dwyer were active in campus conservative circles that mirror TPUSA’s ideological playbook: anti-woke, pro-authoritarian, and allergic to accountability, like most of the Republican Party.
The Kansas Reflector reported that the chat included references to white supremacy, violent rhetoric, and Epstein conspiracy theories, all shared among GOP youth leaders.

However according to The Kansan, The Kansas University Student paper, Alex Dwyer was the PRESIDENT of Turning point USA in 2017.

“In a letter published to Twitter on Aug. 18, Dwyer said the divisive nature of campus activism must end.
‘Disgusted’: Kris Kobach staffer fired after report showing participation in racist group chats.
“The hostility, the divisive rhetoric, it has to end. That end starts with each of us. Individually. We must all do better. Even if we think we are already doing better. Do better,” Dwyer said in the letter.
Dwyer went on to address campus activism.
“Activism isn’t about catchy slogans, or flashy flair. While those things are fun, it’s not what activism is at its core. Activism is about exposing people to different ideas. It’s about showing people what can be done with ideas,” Dwyer said in the letter.”
“Dwyer founded the University’s Turning Point USA chapter, which he wants to be apolitical, last semester.
Turning Point USA is the non profit that rakes in millions a year founded by now deceased bigot pundit Charlie Kirk.
“I want to run my chapter kind of almost as like a reform chapter of Turning Point to show what a good activism chapter can look like… that’s not going to be divisive, that’s not going to be stirring the pot just to stir the pot. Local Fallout in Topeka
The Topeka Capital-Journal revealed that Hendrix was fired from the AG’s office after the leak. The chat included his use of the n-word, jokes about slavery, and mocking of LGBTQ individuals. Dwyer, meanwhile, has gone silent.

The Bigger Picture
This scandal isn’t just about two bad actors—it’s a symptom of a broader rot. The Kansas Young Republicans didn’t invent this rhetoric. They absorbed it from a political culture that rewards cruelty, valorizes authoritarianism, and treats racism as edgy humor.
While these “Bad Apples” getting fired might be a start, it is certainly not surprising that this behavior was tolerated and even encouraged, right up until it all leaked and they got caught. Now suddenly republicans with an office to hold and elections to worry about are scrambling to distance themselves from those caught in their racist behaviors. But make no mistake: This sort of thing does not happen in a vacuum.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, speaking on the Senate floor, described the chat as “revolting” and “disgusting.”
“If this report is accurate, every single Republican leader from President Trump on down … ought to condemn these comments swiftly and unequivocally,” Schumer said.
Vice President JD Vance had a different view and broke with Republicans who broadly condemned the comments within the chat.
But at least it is distracting us all from the EPSTEIN FILES.
The fact that Hendrix held a state government communications role should alarm anyone who believes in institutional integrity.
